Support in sustainable business practices

Schuttelaar & Partners’ Fashion Team advises fashion and textile companies on how to define and implement sustainable business practices. An active sustainability policy can be very rewarding for a clothing company, resulting in a more efficient supply chain, innovative products of better quality, a better reputation and proud employees!

The Fashion Team can help you with anything related to eco fashion and making your brand more sustainable. We support you, for example, in formulating a sustainability policy that fits your organisation and meets the wishes of your customers and other stakeholders. We can present both strategic and pragmatic solutions, and also provide the creative implementation, on paper and on screen. You will find more information about the services we provide in our sustainable fashion leaflet.

Sustainable solutions

We help companies to find suitable solutions and partners at different stages of the production process and product lifecycle. How do you deal with issues like water, pesticide and energy use, or bad labour conditions in your supply chain? What materials are used to make your products and how do you communicate this to your customers?

In order to help you to focus on your key sustainability issues we have divided our services into 4 fields of support:

Our support in this field of the supply chain focuses on the raw product. It ends at the spinning and ginning process which is covered under ‘garment’. We help by providing advice on strategic support, sustainable materials and, among other things, matchmaking with potential partners.

Thinking about improving labour conditions in your supply chain? We facilitate match-making between a variety of guidelines and initiatives, related to environmental and social issues, and provide insight into the differences between them. We can also train your staff and contribute ideas on many other topics.

How is sustainability embedded in your organisation or brand? We help to create a management system, your CSR strategy, implement it and carry it out to all your stakeholders, including staff. We can provide content and organise your event, or training. We offer PR support, brand performance and communications tools like sustainability reports and leaflets, making your organisation more transparent.

Do you want to show your customer what you do in terms of sustainability? We advice and support. We also provide visual support. Our in-house creative and online departments develop communication tools you need. We also invest in stakeholder dialogue and change platforms, for example focusing on reuse and upcycling of garments.

Case Studies

S&P supports the Dutch Fashion ActionPlan (a coalition of industry bodies, fashion companies and the Dutch government) with communication. This Actionplan aims to increase transparency in the apparel industry, especially with regard to sustainability.

We have launched the website in October 2015 and aim to inspires and help Dutch fashion brands and retailers to take a next step and become more transparent through communicating about their sustainability activities.

The website offers them many inspiring good practices, researches, tips, an infographic and eight practical tools about topic such as sustainability strategy, employee engagement and crisis management.

Macintosh Retail Group is a big player in the shoe industry. Manfield, Brantano and Jones Bootmaker are some of their well-known brands.

S&P helped Macintosh to define their sustainability goals and KPIs and wrote their CSR report according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines.

Many fashion companies realize they need to become more sustainable and they have no time to lose. However, the supply chain is complex. How and where to start? To help fashion companies answer these questions, ABN AMRO and Schuttelaar & Partners have developed the Sustainable Fashion Guide.

The Sustainable Fashion Guide is a practical tool the fashion industry – from multinationals to individual entrepreneurs – can use to become more sustainable. The Sustainable Fashion Guide contains 25 questions covering three main areas (sustainability strategy, the supply chain, communication). Each question offers several solutions, and these can be used to determine whether a business is a 'front runner', 'part of the pack' or a 'latecomer' to the sustainability initiative. Schuttelaar & Partners developed the Sustainable Fashion Guide (concept, design and content) and supported ABN AMRO in organising the launch and PR of the Guide.

Solidaridad and Schuttelaar & Partners have teamed up in organizing a series of short seminars to help you working towards a more sustainable supply chain.

The Sustainable Textiles Lab invites you and all the other actors in the textile supply chain to join hands and together aim to bring sustainability to a higher level.

We don’t just talk, we take action!
